Serpina (Keira Grant) points out that she is, after all, “pretty, charming and witty,” and starts to lift her skirts as an enticement — but a shocked Uberto hustles Vespone away from so tantalizing a sight!

When Uberto is out of the room, Serpina plots with Vespone, promising a lovely life if he procedes with the scam they have arranged. She sends him out to prepare himself.

When Uberto returns, Serpina (Brittany Stewart) announces that if he can take a wife, she can take a husband. She says she’s found one, but sings tearfully about how much she will miss her dear master (and Uberto is rather moved to tears himself!).

Serpina offers to introduce him to her prospective husband, Captain Tempest — who turns out to be a rather ill-disguised Vespone! “Captain Tempest” insists (through Serpina of course) that unless he gets a huge dowry from Uberto, he won’t marry her. And may carve up Uberto in the process. Unless, of course, Uberto marries Serpina! (Brittany Stewart, David Roche, Frank de Jong)

The scam works. Uberto agrees (quite happily, it seems) to marry Serpina, Vespone loses his costume (and gets into the wine) and the opera ends with a kiss.
