Born in Kiev, Ukraine, baritone Yevgeny Yablonovsky qualified as a physicist and worked in research earning a Ph.D. degree while pursuing operatic singing as a second career. Mr. Yablonovsky has performed in Canada, Ukraine, Russia and Lithuania. In the realm of opera, he has sung the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, Robert in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Prince Yeletsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades. With TOR Yevgeny appeared as Enrico in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Figaro in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and most recently Belcore in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore. He has been heard in the roles of Silvio and Tonio in concert performances of Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci. In operetta concerts, Yevgeny has appeared as Edwin and Mister X in Kalman’s The Csardas Princess and The Circus Princess respectively, and Danilo in Lehar’s The Merry Widow. His appearances in oratorio have included works by Schubert, Handel, and Dubois.
