Some months later. Violetta (Carrie Gray) is on her deathbed, watched over by her maid, Annina (Sara DiGirolamo).



She reflects on how her beauty has faded, and pines for the return of Alfredo. She has received a letter from his father, who has finally told his son that he is to blame for their separation. Annina enters excitedly to say that Alfredo has arrived.




The lovers rush into each other’s arms, and sing together of how they will leave Paris and begin life anew (above, Romulo Delgado and Carrie Gray).
It is clear, however, she is failing. Annina is sent for the doctor, while Alfredo tries to console her.



The doctor (Alon Eshet) arrives, as does Giorgo Germont (Gerald Hannon, right) to beg her forgiveness. Violetta feels a last surge of strength and vitality, before falling dead at her lover’s feet.
