Musetta (Rachael Jewell) gets rid of Alcindoro (Scott Saini) by sending him off to repair a shoe she claims is pinching her foot. The moment he leaves, she rushes into Marcellos arms.

The act ends with Marcello and Colline carrying Musetta off stage, while Alcindoro returns to find that Musetta has left him nothing but the Café bills to pay!

Some months later, Marcello and Musetta are living on the outskirts of Paris. Mimi (Natalie Donnelly) arrives, seeking help from Marcello (Gerald Hannon). She tells him Rodolfo wants to break up with her. He promises to help, and tells her Rodolfo had arrived at the inn the night before.

At first, Rodolfo (James Dundass) tells Marcello that he is leaving Mimi because she is a terrible flirt, but finally admits that its because he fears she is dying. Mimi, who has been hiding nearby, overhears everything.

Marcello overhears Musetta (Rachael Jewell) laughing in the tavern, and accuses her of flirting. The two fight and break up, while Rodolfo and Mimi, confessing they still deeply love each other, decide to remain together at least until spring.
