OPERA FOR THE REST OF US!

1967-2008: Celebrating 41 Years of Great Community Opera!

Cheap tickets (not much more expensive than a movie). No fussy dress code. Down-to-earth, approachable singers who might just be your friends and neighbours. Toronto Opera Repertoire makes opera accessible — both to the audience, through Supertitles in English, and to the performers.

Love opera? Our performances are fully staged, professionally costumed, and cost just $25 (less, if you’re a student or senior). Love singing, and dreamed of being part of a full-scale opera production? If you’re a trained singer, ready to test yourself by taking on a solo role in an opera classic, we may have just the part for you. And we always need enthusiastic choristers, eager to take to the stage and sing their hearts out. For 41 years now, under Giuseppe Macina’s artistic direction and under the aegis of the Toronto District School Board Continuing Education Program, Toronto Opera Repertoire has presented fully-staged operas in their original languages, complete with period costumes and sets.

If you want to be up on stage singing a solo role, singing in the chorus — or just want to attend a modestly priced production of an opera classic — find out more about Toronto Opera Repertoire today!

Our 2008 Season of performances of La Bohème and A Masked Ball ran from February 13 to March 2, and audiences enjoyed two free evenings of opera selections on March 19 and 20. We are preparing for our 2009 Season, to be announced soon! Click here to be put on our mailing list.
